In commemoration of the night of Nuzulul Qur’an 1447 Hijri, Istiqlal Mosque hosted a series of events titled “Bridge of Civilizational Harmony” on Monday, 9 March 2026. The commemoration highlighted the values of compassion, justice, brotherhood, and social harmony as principles that serve to be an important foundation for life within Indonesia’s diverse society. 
The theme “Bridge of Civilizational Harmony” reflects the spirit of cross-community unity, aligned with the values of tolerance and brotherhood taught in the Qur’an. In this event, Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK2), a development by Agung Sedayu Group and Salim Group, participated as one of the sponsors supporting the religious event. 

Chairman of the Nuzulul Qur’an Committee at Istiqlal Mosque, Mas'ud Halimin, explained that the theme was inspired by the richness of Indonesia’s civilizations and cultural heritage. He expressed hope that the values of the Qur’an could serve as a unifying spirit that brings diverse cultures together into a great Nusantara civilization. 
“We hope that the commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an at this moment becomes a bridge of civilizational harmony where the values of the Qur’an can serve as a bond for all of us. It can become shared values that unite us in a collective awareness as citizens of the nation, bound together in the spirit of ukhuwah Islamiyah,” he said. 
He also added that the Qur’an carries universal values capable of bridging dialogue among civilizations. For this year’s commemoration, Istiqlal Mosque collaborated with Chinese Muslim Association of Indonesia (PITI), reaffirming that Islam in Indonesia grows within a spirit of diversity and cultural acculturation. 
The event featured a range of inspiring programs, including a national dialogue, a cultural performance of Live Sand Painting depicting the history of Chinese Muslims in Indonesia, and the launch of an illuminated Qur’an waqf program with Chinese cultural motifs as a symbol of unity in diversity. 
Beyond serving as a sponsor, Agung Sedayu Group through Masjid Al-Ikhlas PIK also participated as a wakif in the illuminated Qur’an waqf program inspired by Chinese cultural elements. The symbolic handover was represented by Restu Mahesa, Chairman of the Masjid Al-Ikhlas PIK Foundation. The waqf is expected to benefit Muslim communities and contribute to expanding the dissemination of Qur’anic teachings to the public. 
PIK2’s support for this Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration reflects its participation in religious activities that strengthen unity and harmony within a diverse society. Through such involvement, PIK2 also demonstrates its commitment to supporting social and spiritual initiatives, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. 

The event was attended by several national and community figures, including the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, who also serves as Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar. In his remarks, he emphasized that the commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an is an important moment to reaffirm the universal humanitarian message within Islamic teachings. 
He also extended his congratulations and sincere appreciation to Agung Sedayu Group for its contributions in supporting Istiqlal Mosque, including the donation of 1.000 copies of the Qur’an. “We also received a very impressive giant LCD projector, which is extremely beneficial for the welfare of the Muslim community and the people of Indonesia, as it allows the congregation, from the very back to the very front, to clearly witness the proceedings,” he added. 
He further encouraged the congregation to reflect on the historical development of Islam around the world, including in Indonesia. According to him, one of the key reasons for the rapid spread of Islam is the strength of the values contained in the Qur’an. 
Through this commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an, it is hoped that the spirit of Ramadan will not only inspire increased devotion but also strengthen brotherhood and unity in diversity. With the support of various stakeholders, including PIK2, the event serves as a reminder that the values of the Qur’an can become a foundation for building a peaceful, harmonious, and blessed civilization.
